Walmart Watch (IIPM-Article)
The store has been long known for its low prices, but has always been enormously condemned for mistreating its employees. A public affairs website, WalMart Watch, which was set up in March 2005, has regularly scrutinised Wal-Mart and its policies through press releases, advertisements and statements; and has ended up becoming one of the biggest public relations spikes that Wal-Mart has had in the past few years. There have been repeated criticisms against Wal-Mart for low wages and unsafe work conditions; sometimes for even locking workers into stores overnight, discriminating employees and forcing them to work overtime, unpaid. A recent report slantingly cites that CEO Lee Scott earns 871 times more than the average Wal-Mart employee...
