General Motors
General Motors has slammed the brakes on the heavy duty Hummer H1, based on military’s Humvee platform. In 1991, GM had bought the marketing rights from AM General and renamed it as Hummer H1. The decision comes as a result of declining sales of H1 model. The Hummer H1 faced a lot of environmentalist’s ire because it guzzled a lot of fuel. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Governor of California was the first US citizen to purchase the civilian model. GM also introduced a medium sized version H2 in 2002 as well as H3, the smallest in the family in the year 2005.
