The ‘Sun’ rises in the DTH space

The Direct to Home (DTH) space is all set to get hotter. After DD’s Direct TV, Zee’s Dish TV and Tata-Star’s Tata Sky, South’s media conglomerate, Sun TV is fast forwarding the launch of its DTH venture. Malaysia’s Astro All Asia Networks is investing $116 million for 20% stake in Sun’s Direct TV. The service is slated for a launch in the second half of 2007 for which Kalanidhi Maran promoted Sun Group received the license in August 2006. Meanwhile, after a successful Phase I of CAS roll-out in some parts of the three metros of Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai, TRAI is all set for the Phase II.
